Hi, I'm Emily
Project manager. Parent. An expatriate living in Oxford, United Kingdom.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to United Kingdom wasn’t planned as a forever move. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks felt tougher than they should have.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of hands-on learning. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that suited us, met other families, and began building something that felt secure.
Why I Built BrightFieldOrbit
Most online resources were either corporate relocation guidance or surface-level tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in United Kingdom.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from life in United Kingdom
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a paid review platform
- Not just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in United Kingdom goes on, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I will continue documenting what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Oxford or anywhere in United Kingdom, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Emily
